About Ahmed Bin Sulayem
Ahmed Bin Sulayem is the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre), the Government of Dubai's flagship free zone and commodities trade hub. Under his leadership since its inception in 2002, DMCC has grown from a start-up of just 28 member companies into the world's leading international business district, now home to over 26,000 member companies from 180 countries and employing more than 90,000 people.
His strategic vision has driven the introduction of multiple value-added products and services that have strengthened commodity trade flows through Dubai, earning DMCC the title of "Global Free Zone of the Year" by The Financial Times' fDi Magazine for a record nine consecutive years.
He has spearheaded the exponential growth of the DMCC Free Zone master development in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) a 200-hectare business and residential community spanning 87 towers and home to over 100,000 residents and professionals. He also leads the development of DMCC's latest flagship real estate project, the Uptown Dubai district.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem currently serves as Chairman of the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) and the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX). In recognition of the UAE's global standing in ethical trade, he was appointed the UAE's Chair of the Kimberley Process (KP) in 2016 following the UAE becoming the first and only Arab nation to chair the KP in November 2015. He was reappointed for a historic second term in 2024, and again in 2025 as Custodian Chair, marking an unprecedented third term.
